DFS pitchers for May 6

Updated: May 6, 2015

We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Gerrit Cole: The Pirates ace has been sensational this season, going 4-0 with a 1.76, so we’re riding him until his pricing matches his production. Cole costs $9,500 for his matchup at home against the Reds, which is the third-most expensive on the day. If you go without a cheap pitcher today, you’ll need to find bargain hitters – we’re using Jason Castro ($3,400) against Mike Foltynewicz, Chris Taylor ($3,100) vs. C.J. Wilson and red-hot Kelly Johnson ($3,500) vs. Jerome Williams.

Scott Kazmir: The A’s lefty has been a stand-by for us so far, averaging 24.6 fantasy points and costing just $8,000 for a matchup at Minnesota. Using his halfway affordable price allowed us to afford Freddie Freeman ($4,900) against Jerome Williams and Joc Pederson ($4,400) vs. Wily Peralta.

One cheaper option we do like is Dodgers righty Joe Wieland, who is auditioning for a rotation spot at Milwaukee and costs just $5,700. Tigers righty Alfredo Simon for $5,300 at the White Sox is another way to save money for your batters.
