DFS pitchers for May 26

Updated: May 26, 2015

We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Matt Shoemaker: After you take an ace (we are using Clayton Kershaw but would happily play Madison Bumgarner, David Price and Jacob deGrom), you may want to find a cheaper option to leave you some money to spend on hitters. The truly cheap options are all pretty dicey, so we’re using Shoemaker for $7,300 against the Padres. The Angels righty has been victimized by the long ball this season (21% HR/FB after 9.4% last year), so we’re counting on him keeping the ball in the park in spacious Angel Stadium. We like that he’s maintained his solid rates in strikeouts (8.5 K/9) and walks (1.8 BB/9), which has helped add up to a 3.93 xFIP compared to a 6.29 ERA. The regression is coming and we’re willing to bet it starts tonight.

Danny Salazar: If you want to save a little on the big four aces, Salazar costs $9,100 for a home matchup with the red-hot Rangers. Salazar’s rates are off the charts – 12.4 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 – so we’re banking on his pure stuff overwhelming the Rangers.
