Toronto Blue Jays v Cleveland Indians

We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Danny Salazar: On a day of expensive aces (Max Scherzer $12,200, Felix Hernandez $11,600, Zack Greinke $10,700, Gerrit Cole $9,400), it’s nice to find someone pitching like an ace at a more affordable $9,300. Salazar has put up a dazzling 38-3 K-BB in 27 innings over four starts, good enough for a 2.02 xFIP compared to his 3.27 ERA. This start at Texas, which is not the hitter’s park it used to be, against a mediocre lineup and with red-hot but not intimidating Colby Lewis is a pretty good matchup.

Ubaldo Jimenez: Our flyer of the day is the mercurial Orioles righty, who has been great at times (23-4 K-BB, 21 innings, 0.86 ERA in three starts) and bad at others (9-8 K-BB, 12.2 innings, 4.97 ERA in three starts). He gets the mediocre Angels lineup and faces off with homer-prone Matt Shoemaker in Baltimore at the cut-rate price of $6,200. Saving money on Jimenez allowed us to stock up on star hitters like Jose Abreu, Michael Brantley and Mike Trout.

We are using Mad Max and King Felix in other lineups, and certainly wouldn’t shy away from Zack Greinke either.
