DFS pitchers for May 14

Updated: May 14, 2015

We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Brett Anderson: If you’re looking for a cheap win to pair with an expensive ace, the Dodgers lefty is a solid pick as L.A. should be able to handle the ice-cold Rockies and their starting pitcher Chad Bettis, just up from the minors. Anderson is 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA and costs just $6,500. He matches up well against the Rockies’ lefty-heavy normal starting lineup of Justin Morneau (who may take a seat in favor of Wilin Rosario), Carlos Gonzalez, Corey Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon. Using Anderson created enough room to get studs like Adrian Gonzalez, Nelson Cruz and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Johnny Cueto: The Reds righty is the most expensive pitcher in the six late games at $10,100 and he should be worth the investment against the Giants and Tim Lincecum in Cincinnati. Cueto is 3-3 with a 2.88 ERA and a tiny 0.88 WHIP. We only had to find one cheap hitter to allow us the space to use Cueto – Jose Pirela for $3,000 at shortstop.
