DFS pitchers for April 24

Scott Kazmir

We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Scott Kazmir: The A’s lefty continues to be underrated as he’s been nothing short of sensational this season at 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 10.2 K/9 yet costs just $8,500 against strikeout-prone Houston. The Astros are very right-handed, so it’s possible this goes south, but we’re believers in Kazmir as a special pitcher until he shows signs of wearing down later in the season.

Carlos Martinez: The Cardinals flame-thrower may finally be giving us the breakout season we’ve been waiting for with a 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in his first 13 innings. Going against a struggling Milwaukee lineup missing Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy, Martinez is a tremendous bargain for $7,200.

The two highest-priced aces, Felix Hernandez ($11,300) and Zack Greinke ($10,100), are great plays if you can find enough bargain hitters to pair with them. King Felix gets the weak Twins lineup in Seattle while Greinke get the right-handed Padres lineup in San Diego. Some bargains we like are Dallas Keuchel for $7,500 if you don’t pair him with Kazmir (who he faces), Danny Salazar ($7,700) and Shane Greene ($7,100).

We’re stacking hitters in Coors from the Giants and Rockies lineups as well as Angels batters going against the Rangers’ Wandy Rodriguez. We like using the bargain pitchers to get to use Mike Trout, Corey Dickerson and Carlos Gonzalez.
