We’re diving into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) craze and will be bringing you the two pitchers we’re using in Draft Kings with other possibilities as well.

Chase Anderson: Yeah, we’re using high-priced pitchers like Carlos Carrasco and Dan Haren too, but on a day with so many premium matchups for hitters, we went fishing for a better value at SP and came up with the young D-backs right-hander. Not only are we fans of his skill set (career 8.3 K/9 and 3.64 xFIP), but we like the matchup against a Rangers lineup that has been pretty poor so far – .211 average (3rd-worst in MLB), .337 SLG (5th-worst) and .283 wOBA (8th-worst). At a bargain basement $5,500, he saves $3,500 on the highest-priced pitcher (Lance Lynn) that can be reinvested in the Padres’ right-handed hitters in Coors against a lefty in Tyler Matzek.

Drew Pomeranz: Another bargain, the A’s lefty costs just $6,600 against a cold Angels lineup in pitcher-friendly Anaheim. Pomeranz has a combined 2.44 ERA and 8.3 K/9 in his second season with the A’s, numbers that if he were more established would put his price point closer to $10,000. Saving money here also allowed us to get studs like Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon and Adam Jones in our lineups, just to name a few.

Other pitchers we like include Carrasco and Haren, but if you want supreme value to try to win a jackpot with, Cincinnati’s Jason Marquis is facing a Brewers lineup that is circling the drain and without Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Gomez, and he costs just $4,600!
